Destination Cuba

Destination Cuba

Lowdown

The land of classic cars, crumbling old buildings & smiling farmers, Cuba really is like taking a step back in time.

Nothing much has changed in Cuba since the 1950’s which just adds to its charm. It’s refreshing to visit a country with limited WIFI, limited brands & items available to purchase & is one of the few countries where people mainly using landlines instead of cell phones.

Cuba is a laid back island nation, full of soul & character. It’s a place like no other & if you’re planning on visiting you’re in for a classic treat!

Our Cuba Factsheet

Days Spent: 48

Places Visited: Cárdenas, Cienfuegos, El Fraile, Havana, Mantanzas, Playa Giron, Playa Larga, Trinidad, Viñales, Varadero.

Our Highlight: Cycling from Havana to Trinidad.

Our Top Hack: Get your head around the CUP & CUC currency before you go, you can use both & will save a lot of money doing so.

Fun Fact: From the air Cuba resembles a crocodile!

Our Experience

From spending a month in Havana living in Miramar & going back to school there to learn Spanish to exploring the stunning National Park of  Viñales then taking our own bikes & cycling from Havana all the way down to Trinidad – we had quite the Cuba experience.

The contrast between the cities & the remote farm areas are what we found the most incredible with the people outside of the tourist traps some of the most warm & friendly that we have ever had the pleasure to meet.
